Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has completed an impressive 85-lap testing session at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, marking significant progress in his adaptation to the Ferrari team.
Strong Morning Performance
Hamilton, who joined Ferrari from Mercedes at the end of 2024, expressed satisfaction with his morning testing session. “Getting 85 laps in during the morning session is amazing,” Hamilton remarked. “Considering these are completely new regulations, we’re in a much better position than expected.”
Testing Program Progress
The extensive running allowed Hamilton to gain valuable insights into the new Ferrari challenger. After completing his morning stint before handing over to teammate Charles Leclerc, Hamilton indicated he had developed “a clear understanding of the car’s current state and areas requiring improvement.”
Adaptation to New Team
This marks Hamilton’s second year with the Italian team after his high-profile move from Mercedes. The testing session represents a crucial phase in Ferrari’s preparation, as the team aims to bounce back from a challenging 2024 season where they failed to secure any victories and finished fourth in the constructors’ championship.
Looking Ahead
The Barcelona test is part of a limited pre-season testing schedule, with teams restricted to specific testing days under the new regulations. Two additional open tests are scheduled in Bahrain next month before the season opener in Australia on March 8.
Hamilton’s productive running suggests positive progress in his integration with Ferrari, as both driver and team work toward returning to championship-contending form in the upcoming season.
