Lee Jae-myung and his wife Kim Hye-kyung have placed their Seongnam Bundang-gu apartment on the market for 2.9 billion won, sparking a surge of buyer interest just 29 years after its purchase.
Property Acquisition and Listing Details
The couple acquired the 164-square-meter (59-pyeong) apartment in the Bundang Yangji area back in 1998 for 360 million won. They held the property jointly for nearly three decades before deciding to sell. Current listings for similar units in the complex range from 3.1 billion to 3.2 billion won.
The sales notice includes a note from the seller expressing a desire to purchase “this tycoon’s residence,” which has fueled widespread attention.
Intense Market Response
Bundang real estate agents report that rumors of the property’s ownership quickly circulated, leading to an influx of purchase inquiries. One agent noted, “Word spread fast that this apartment belongs to Lee Jae-myung.”
Another professional observed, “Even for premium listings like this, the full details emerge quickly, and strong interest persists despite a current tenant.” Agents confirm that the seller appears to be a recent buyer who has already attracted multiple offers.
The property currently carries an “imminent sale” status amid ongoing tenant arrangements, yet its market value remains robust.
Official Statement
Kang Yoo-jung, chief presidential campaign spokesperson, announced online on the 27th that the apartment is now for sale. She stated, “This marks the first residence after establishing independence, but reflecting Bundang’s private market values provides an inevitable benefit to citizens.”
