Kim Seon-tae, previously associated with the ‘Chungju Man’ YouTube channel, has openly shared the reasons behind directly recruiting his public servant wife into his content creation. On March 3, he uploaded a video titled ‘I Confess Everything About the World I’ve Been Hiding,’ where he disclosed her identity.
In this initial reveal, Kim introduced himself explicitly as the channel’s host. The move followed the channel’s recruitment of his wife, propelling ‘Chungju Man’ to 1 million subscribers. This success coincided with the emergence of a rival ‘Chungju City’ channel, heightening the stakes.
Main Reason: A Calculated Risk for Growth
Kim described the decision to feature his wife as ‘half luck’ that worked out well. He explained to media outlets that channel managers had encouraged greater investment in YouTube for expansion.
‘They said to aim for 200,000 or 300,000 subscribers, but targeting 1 million made us take the plunge,’ Kim stated.
Recent trend analysis revealed similar strategies among creators, prompting Kim to view it as a final, high-stakes option. ‘I lacked the resources to sustain it alone and had to stake everything myself,’ he added.
Financial Ambitions and Personal Drive
The core motivation, Kim admitted, was a desire to allocate more funds aggressively. ‘Even newcomers adopting this approach would pressure competitors more,’ he reflected.
Dismissing accusations of greed, he noted, ‘Gratitude only matched a decade of commitment. External broadcasters with public servant analysts face even greater concerns.’
At 40 years old and fully committed as a YouTuber, Kim emphasized leveraging personal influence. ‘Fame doesn’t guarantee impact—whether it’s genuine or inflated remains unclear. I also have the skills to thrive independently,’ he said.
Appeal to Fans
Kim urged supporters to recognize the value in bold risks.
‘As a YouTube broadcaster, wagering it all captures hearts more effectively than safe plays.’
He aimed to reignite fan loyalty through this transparent strategy.
