A public offering fund managing assets exceeding 6 trillion won has captured investor attention by selling Nvidia shares worth 300 million won for a 150 million won profit and redirecting the funds equally into Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
The move, described as wedding savings pooled with a fiancée, surfaced in an online investor forum post on the 24th, exploding in popularity by the 26th under the headline announcing the Nvidia sale split between the two chip giants.
Details of the High-Profile Trade
The fund secured Nvidia shares during a market downturn. Sales executed Samsung Electronics at an average price of 199,700 won per share and SK Hynix at 1,002,000 won per share, locking in roughly 150 million won total gains.
The investor explained, “Savings built with my fiancée for wedding expenses led to selling 300 million won of Nvidia shares, split evenly to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.”
Reflecting on the decision, the investor noted, “Holding for another year with close friends could turn this 300 million into 1 billion won.” He added, “Entering major Seoul-listed stocks for the first time yielded substantial returns, but amid cautious sentiment and a new era of market normalization, the timing felt right to sell.”
Post-Sale Market Surge
Following the transactions, both targets rallied sharply. Samsung Electronics climbed 7.13% to 218,000 won, while SK Hynix surged 7.96% to 1,099,000 won, setting fresh highs and adding an estimated 28 million won in paper profits for the positions.
Nvidia shares also advanced amid grappling gains on the 26th, influenced by external factors like potential nuclear cooperation deals between the U.S. and Iran. Domestic semiconductor benchmarks mirrored the momentum, with nighttime trading launches on the 27th boosting activity.
Online Reactions and Expert Views
Forum responses split sharply. Some expressed envy, with comments like, “Juicy investments like this never work for me,” “This feels like robbery,” and “I blew mine on a house.” Others countered, “Selling too soon weighs heavy,” and “Plenty lose big chasing newlywed home dreams via oversized stock bets.”
Analysts attribute the Nvidia strength to AI-driven semiconductor demand but urge vigilance. Group rotations, programmatic trading, and global economic shifts could alter trajectories, demanding measured strategies amid the boom.
