A man in his 40s faces a fine after attacking staff at an apartment management office in Chuncheon for failing to respond to an emergency bell that rang at his home early one morning.
Details of the Incident
Police records show that on May 31 at around 5 a.m., an emergency alarm activated in the man’s apartment unit. Despite the alert, office staff took no immediate action. Frustrated, the resident, identified as A, aged 45, entered the management office.
A pushed staff member B, aged 59, in the chest and picked up a metal chair, threatening to throw it. Another resident, C, aged 35, grabbed a knife and made stabbing motions toward the staff.
Court Ruling and Sentencing
Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 3 Judge Park Dong-guk imposed a 5 million won fine on A for charges related to obstruction and assault. The sentencing occurred on the 9th.
Judge Park noted the management’s partial responsibility, stating, “Even acknowledging the offense, the office shares some blame.” He added that while the judgment might not be ideal and cooperation with victims was limited, C continues to press for accountability.
