Recent Iranian drone attacks targeting U.S. and Israeli operations sparked fires at key landmarks in the United Arab Emirates, including the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai.
Incidents in Dubai
Dubai authorities confirmed that a single drone struck the exterior of the Burj Al Arab, igniting a fire. Officials stated on social media platform X that no citizens or foreigners sustained injuries from the incident.
In areas anticipating heavy drone activity, joint response teams from Dubai reported minor fires at workplaces. All damages remained isolated to individual properties, with four people receiving treatment for injuries.
Emirates Airlines and other UAE carriers continued normal operations throughout the events.
Casualties at Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi
Fires also erupted from falling debris in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, a critical hub for U.S. military shipments via sea and air. Authorities emphasized that all citizens remained safe.
At Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, the attacks resulted in at least one fatality and seven injuries.
Separately, one Pakistani national died after being struck by debris, according to UAE officials.
Iran’s Broader Response
Iran launched a large-scale barrage of drones and missiles aimed at U.S. military bases in retaliation for ongoing operations by the U.S. and Israel.
