BTS member Jin shared candid insights into his evolving relationship with alcohol during a recent YouTube interview on ‘Insaeng84’ in the ‘Jin and Hamkke’ segment.
Shifting Attitudes Toward Drinking
Jin explained that he no longer feels a strong urge to drink. “Honestly, there’s no real desire to drink anymore,” he said. “Why would I push myself to drink like that?”
When Gian84 suggested connecting deeply with alcohol might lead to exhaustion, Jin countered, “If you try to convey that feeling, it just doesn’t come out right.”
Gian84 noted he shares his experiences when feeling numb from drinking. Jin responded, “What happens at 11 p.m. when you’re sleepy after a drink? Even half a bottle alone, people live in those moments.” He added that he now prefers staying home, sipping alone without fanfare.
“I express it just like that,” Jin continued. “Even out with friends, I drink moderately, head home relaxed, and sleep comfortably if needed.”
Career Reflections and BTS Dynamics
Gian84 remarked that idols often hide their drinking, but BTS faces less pressure. Jin praised his bandmates: “The members are talented. Being that good isn’t my style. I believe building genuine personal relationships matters most.” He described himself as “the type who pushes forward honestly, no matter what.”
Debuting at age 22, Jin is now 35. Reflecting on style changes, he said his mindset improved over time. “Back then, I thought, ‘Just get by for seven years and rest.’ Honestly, that feeling grew strong. But as I kept going, it became fun and sincere,” he shared.
Jin emphasized gratitude toward fans, noting they understand his journey. “Thank you to the fans—even if I feel more sincere now, it won’t change,” he added, appreciating how alcohol helped solidify his growth into a more grounded person.
