Singer Baek Ki-seong captivated audiences on a recent episode of a popular South Korean dating reality show by delivering a heartfelt letter to his longtime fortune teller friend, Yoon Jung-soo.
Deep Bond Revealed
Baek, who has known Yoon for 30 years, redirected a fan-directed letter straight to his friend during the show’s preview segment. With emotion in his voice, he recited the personal note himself, reflecting on his career journey.
“When I first stepped into this industry, I thought, ‘I’ve made a terrible mistake,’ but I’ve persevered this far,” Baek shared.
He highlighted two pivotal life moments: meeting his wife, 12 years his junior and married for nine years while maintaining a honeymoon-like phase, and developing a close friendship with Yoon. Baek described these as “the ultimate stroke of luck and the best choice I’ve ever made,” visibly choking up.
Studio Overwhelmed with Emotion
The raw sincerity moved the show’s love experts in the studio, who teared up and remarked, “That’s genuinely touching.”
Baek expressed ongoing gratitude, stating, “In hard times or at meals, you’ve always been by my side—it’s truly an honor.” He emphasized their unique connection: “No one else writes letters to another man like this. I love you, friend,” underscoring decades of unwavering support.
Yoon replied with a serious nod, “Thank you, friend.” This exchange prompted Hwang Bo-ra to weep, commenting, “It’s even more heartbreaking than a letter to a spouse.”
Mixed Reactions from Hosts
While female hosts shed tears over the men’s profound friendship, male panelist Choi Sung-kook expressed confusion: “Why the tears?”
Hwang responded passionately, “It was amazing. Friends like that are essential.” Kim Kook-jin similarly puzzled, “This is unusual. Why do women cry over this point…?”
The duo’s 30-year companionship, featured prominently, promises deeper insights in the full episode, which aired Monday evening at 10 p.m.
