FC Anyang manager Yu Byung-hoon expressed deep regret to supporters following a 1-1 draw with Gimcheon Sangmu that extended the team’s winless run to five matches in the Hana One Hang K League 1 2026 season.
Frustrating Draw at Gimcheon Stadium
On April 12 at Gimcheon Stadium, Anyang (1 win, 4 draws, 2 losses) battled to a stalemate against the hosts. Despite threatening moments, the visitors could not secure victory and break their streak.
Yu Byung-hoon stated, “The biggest feeling is apologizing to the fans who came to watch a game like this. Even the usually well-behaved supporters inside the stadium deserve better. Conveying this hard work to the players in such a direction is only right. Sorry. We prepare well so this situation does not repeat.”
Tactical Shift and Key Moments
Anyang switched from their usual three-back formation to a four-back setup, benching the active striker for a new starting lineup. They pushed for the lead, but a second-half header by Kim Young-chan in the 13th minute was their highlight.
Later, another goal faced disallowance due to offside after a tight call. Yu analyzed the changes: “Switching from three-back to four-back via the striker position remains unnatural and heavy. We must score more goals. That part, too, means not losing the score unnecessarily—holding onto three points tightly instead of settling for one after entering the goal situation.”
He added, “The positional shift with four-back improves players’ connection play, allowing concentration chases and team momentum. This can create opportunities to grab big scores.”
Looking Ahead
Anyang faces Pohang Steelers on the 19th in their next regular league fixture, aiming to end the drought and reward faithful fans.
