Former South Korean national soccer team striker Ahn Jung-hwan has refunded 430 million won in YouTube ad revenue amid a lawsuit controversy.
Ahn Addresses Decision on TV Appearance
Ahn appeared on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ and explained his choice. He initially considered shutting down his channel but decided to return the funds to aid struggling creators.
“I was wrong too,” Ahn stated. “Returning the money helps those kids struggling in this tough environment get back on track.”
Online reactions vary, with many praising his accountability. Some observers note the refund covers lawsuit-related earnings tied to content disputes.
Ahn elaborated, “These are front-line creators facing voters directly. Many, from backroom staff to delivery workers, endure harsh realities.”
Channel Performance and Competition
His channel ‘Ahn Jung-hwan 19’ earned the sum over five years until March. “The landscape is cutthroat—even celebrities face setbacks,” Ahn said. “I returned it fully, pushing toward 500 million won without greed.”
Distinguished Soccer Career
Ahn gained fame scoring four goals in the 2002 World Cup Round of 16. He debuted professionally with Busan Daewoo Royals in 1998, later playing in Italy, Japan, France, Germany, China, and beyond.
