Thirty-nine individuals, including South Koreans stranded in Israel, successfully evacuated to Egypt on October 10 local time amid escalating regional tensions.
Evacuation Operation Details
The group consists of 38 South Korean nationals and one U.S. citizen of Korean descent. They departed Jerusalem, boarded a government-chartered bus, and reached Egypt after rescue operations confirmed their safe extraction.
Embassy staff from South Korea’s mission in Israel escorted the evacuees from Jerusalem to the Egypt border. Upon arrival, personnel from the embassy in Egypt took over, ensuring continued support.
The local Korean community coordinated with officials to provide meals and accommodations during the process.
Ongoing Safety Measures
Authorities continue to monitor developments in the Middle East closely, prioritizing the safety of nationals in the region. Efforts focus on securing safe returns home through proactive regional tracking and necessary interventions.
Earlier this March, a similar operation relocated 66 South Koreans from Israel to Egypt, demonstrating consistent commitment to citizen protection.
