A prominent Democratic Party lawmaker, Jeong Cheong-rae, faces expulsion from the popular online fan community ‘Jaemyeong’s Village,’ dedicated to presidential hopeful Lee Jae-myung. The decision stems from accusations of undermining party unity following a recent election setback.
Overwhelming Vote in Favor of Expulsion
On the 22nd, cafe administrators announced the results of a poll targeting Jeong Cheong-rae and supreme committee member Lee Sung-yoon. Out of 1,231 total votes cast, 1,001 (81.3%) supported expulsion, while 230 (18.7%) opposed it.
The cafe operator stated that Jeong Cheong-rae and Lee Sung-yoon bear the original responsibility for the party’s leadership election loss, as they failed to own up to their roles in the defeat.
Evidence from Rally Speeches
Administrators cited screenshots from Jeong’s large-scale rally, interpreting them as calls to fracture party ranks. These included joint statements with the Joguk Hyuksin Party and pushes for a ‘one person, one vote’ system.
Special scrutiny focused on rally promotions tied to ‘one person, one vote’ initiatives and related opinion violations, which administrators viewed as divisive tactics.
Operator’s Strong Rebuke
The operator criticized Jeong’s approach, saying, “Analysis without any self-reflection, outward calls for unity while telling others to ‘keep quiet’—that’s a bitter stance.”
Further remarks highlighted the need for deeper remorse: “One hand more precise investigation, direct responsibility through greater special losses, and naming the West Sea incident to properly condemn those analyses.”
Addressing internal tensions, the operator noted, “Even here, people hide ballot fears to avoid sympathy, but veteran party members now receive non-participation notices first.” Jeong’s shifting positions were questioned: “Those needing votes—do they exploit the village like this? Do they bully the self-governing like that?”
The operator defended the cafe’s role: “‘Jaemyeong’s Village’ steadfastly upholds Lee Jae-myung’s leadership as the optimal choice through persistence and affection. As operators, the correct action is expulsion from this public space.”
Emphasizing community: “This isn’t an individual’s domain but a hub where villagers unite and respond together to challenges. That outcome must be fully accepted by long-time party members.”
