Comedian Park Na-rae, celebrated for her vibrant energy in broadcasting, recently sparked concern after a daring rooftop jump while intoxicated. A popular YouTube video titled ‘Narack’s Rooftop Jump After Drinking’ highlighted the episode, drawing widespread attention.
Details of the January Incident
On January 23, Park Na-rae visited a makgeolli brewing academy in central Seoul. There, she climbed to the rooftop with the academy owner, a university president, after consuming alcohol. Despite her inebriated state, she vaulted over the railing and descended safely. Video creator Jin-hoon clarified that the act stemmed from alcohol-induced doubt, not content creation or self-promotion.
Jin-hoon noted that Park Na-rae insisted the episode was a private matter unrelated to public activities. However, it triggered backlash, with observers questioning her personal judgment. He emphasized that her claims lacked factual basis and urged understanding amid her evident stress.
“Even public figures have private mishaps—let’s not overreact,” Jin-hoon stated, describing her subsequent demeanor as one of extreme nervousness and anxiety.
Police Investigation and Response
Seoul Gangnam Police summoned Park Na-rae on the 20th as a suspect for potential violations related to unauthorized access and other suspicions. The interrogation lasted approximately seven hours and 40 minutes.
Emerging from the station, Park Na-rae reflected on the academy visit: “I sincerely apologized to the owner and responded honestly to all questions. Despite frustrations, I conveyed my heartfelt remorse.”
In her written statement addressing the violation claims, she wrote: “Climbing the rooftop was regrettable, but it wasn’t intentional malice—just anticipated backlash.” Authorities have yet to issue a formal legal response on the suspicions.
In the car afterward, she told her manager: “It was frightening, but the flood of New Year’s greetings helped.”
Career Context and Prior Challenges
Park Na-rae joined the industry in December after reflecting on past controversies, including disputes over group chats, special favors, large gifts, and unverified rumors. She has since appeared energetically on major programs like MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘Guhaejo! Home,’ as well as tvN’s ‘Nollaun Toy Project.’
Producers praised her full commitment and broadcasts, projecting around 10 million viewers. Despite skill gaps and form concerns, her unique appeal has sustained her popularity.
