VATICAN CITY — Pope Leo XIV on Thursday urged Russia and Ukraine to seek out the “braveness” for “honest, direct and respectful dialogue,” following weeks of intense worldwide diplomacy to finish the almost four-year battle.
“Might the events concerned, with the help and dedication of the worldwide neighborhood, discover the braveness to interact in honest, direct and respectful dialogue,” Leo stated in a Christmas blessing.
In current weeks, Russian and Ukrainian officers have spoken individually to U.S. negotiators about proposals to finish the battle began in February 2022 by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
