The current passage of authorized revisions regulating the scattering of propaganda leaflets into North Korea has ended the period of leaflet campaigns focusing on Pyongyang, the unification ministry mentioned Monday, expressing hope for the restoration of inter-Korean ties.
“The most recent revisions to the Act on the Efficiency of Duties by Police Officers and the Aviation Security Act have made it tough to scatter anti-North Korea leaflets, successfully drawing the period of leaflet campaigns towards the North to an in depth,” unification ministry spokesperson Yoon Min-ho mentioned at a press briefing.
Following the passage of a revised Aviation Security Act in early December that extra strictly regulates the airborne launch of leaflets close to the border with North Korea, the Nationwide Meeting handed one other revised legislation the day prior to this granting police broader authorized authority to dam leaflet campaigns.
The spokesperson mentioned leaflet campaigns towards the North have fueled mistrust between the Koreas and undermined the peace and security of border residents, expressing hope that the revisions might function a place to begin for restoring inter-Korean ties and constructing peace.
