“The Day She Returns,” Hong Sang-soo’s newest mission, has been invited to display on the Berlin Worldwide Movie Pageant, the movie’s distributor mentioned Thursday.
The movie, Hong’s thirty fourth function, is about to display within the Panorama part, a class that showcases unbiased and artwork home movies addressing up to date social points and new cinematic developments, in response to Finecut.
The film follows an actress (Track Solar-mi), who, after a break from appearing following marriage, returns to work and enrolls in appearing lessons.
The pageant praised the movie for delicately observing human feelings and compassion with a contact of humor.
“Grasp director Hong Sang-soo affords a refined reflection on the appearing career itself,” the pageant mentioned on its web site.
The invitation marks the Korean auteur’s seventh consecutive 12 months on the prestigious occasion, beginning in 2020 with “The Girl Who Ran.”
The 65-year-old director has to date gained 5 awards on the pageant, beginning with “On the Seashore at Evening Alone” in 2017, which earned its lead actress, Kim Min-hee, the Silver Bear for Finest Actress. In 2024, Hong acquired the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize for “A Traveler’s Wants.” Final 12 months, the director’s “What Does That Nature Say to You” was invited to the competitors part.
The Berlin Worldwide Movie Pageant runs from Feb. 12-22.
