BRASÍLIA — Brazilian lawmakers have accepted laws that would scale back the time former president Jair Bolsonaro will spend in jail for trying a army coup after he misplaced the 2022 election.
If the laws, accepted by Brazil’s Federal Senate on Wednesday, survives an anticipated presidential veto, Bolsonaro, 70, might be transferred from jail to deal with arrest as early as 2028.
