Teenage snowboarder Yu Seung-eun has gained her first profession World Cup medal within the girls’s large air, along with her first Winter Olympics quick approaching.
Yu grabbed silver in her self-discipline with 173.25 factors on the Worldwide Ski Federation Snowboard World Cup in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on Saturday (native time). Miyabi Onitsuka of Japan simply beat the Korean for the gold with 174.00 factors.
Ally Hickman of Australia completed third with 162.25 factors.
Yu, 17, had the second-highest rating within the qualification section with 89.75 factors and maintained her robust type for the rostrum end. She is the primary Korean snowboarder to win a World Cup medal in large air.
Massive air made its Olympic debut in Korea on the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Video games. Boarders drop into the ramp and launch off one large soar to carry out flips and spins. They’re judged on problem, execution, top and distance of their jumps and their touchdown.
Yu is the second Korean snowboarder to win a World Cup medal up to now three days, becoming a member of the guy 17-year-old Choi Gaon, who gained the ladies’s halfpipe title in China on Friday.
The current type of these two youngsters bodes effectively for Korea’s medals hopes on the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in February.
Korea thus far has earned only one Olympic medal in snowboard — silver by Lee Sang-ho within the males’s parallel large slalom on the 2018 PyeongChang Video games.
