US President Vows Retaliation Amid Rising Tensions
President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will launch a “very powerful strike” against Iran, targeting its oil and gas infrastructure and markets. The announcement signals a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two nations.
In a statement made on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump stated, “In the very near future, we will be taking over Iran’s oil and gas facilities, and completely disrupting their oil and gas markets, just as we did in Venezuela.” He specifically referenced the island of Harq, which serves as a key hub for Iran’s oil exports.
Escalation Follows Drone Incident
The heightened rhetoric follows the downing of a U.S. military Apache helicopter. Since June 9th, President Trump has been issuing daily directives for increased military action against Iran, marking the fourth consecutive day of escalating operations.
President Trump asserted that Iran has lost “all its naval, air, radar, defense systems of all types, and most of its offensive capabilities,” emphasizing the “very powerful strike” to come. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that, following presidential orders, they have initiated further offensive actions.
In a separate interview, President Trump mentioned that U.S. forces had fired 49 Tomahawk missiles. This intensified military posture comes as Iran has also targeted U.S. bases in the region and threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz. Analysts suggest this marks a significant increase in hostilities since the ceasefire in April.
Earlier reports indicated that U.S. forces intercepted an Iranian oil tanker attempting to smuggle oil in the Omani waters on June 10th, violating sanctions.
