KT Wiz rookie pitcher Bo Su-ri tossed five scoreless innings for his first win, propelling the team to a 9-4 triumph over the Hanwha Eagles and a three-game winning streak.
Solid Outing Secures Victory
The contest unfolded on the 31st at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon, drawing a packed house that sold out 17,000 tickets in just 24 minutes for the popular Kang Baek-ho derby featuring Han Seung-hyuk.
Bo Su-ri navigated threats adeptly, scattering five hits and two walks across his stint to anchor the win. Pinch hitters Han Seung-hyuk, Jeon Yong-ju, and Ju Gwon sparked key rallies alongside sharp plays from Choi Won-jun.
Manager Lee Kang-chul lauded the complete effort. “Bo Su-ri displayed sharp command from his training, unlocking the win. First win congratulations, and Han Seung-hyuk with Ju Gwon performed superbly,” he stated.
Lineup Delivers Clutch Hits
The heart of the order resolved every scoring chance. Choi Won-jun’s first-inning RBI single set the tone, while fifth-inning hits from Jang Sung-woo, An Hyun-min’s two-RBI knock, and Jang’s first home run of the season fueled a breakout.
“The lineup handled run-producing spots perfectly,” Lee Kang-chul noted. “Choi’s big blow, Jang’s hit, An Hyun-min’s two RBI, and Jang Sung-woo’s homer teamed up to lock down the victory.”
He thanked supporters: “Grateful to fans braving a weekday game. Plenty of key selections made the difference.”
Bo Su-ri Eyes Improvement
Debuting strongly, Bo Su-ri reflected positively yet critically. “Two walks stood out as regrettable, especially post-strong strikes. I’ll address that next outing,” he said.
“Team synergy feels solid; confident in outfield wins too. Our streak stems from team success. Starters endure national drops, but good grips and teamwork with fielders make it work,” Bo Su-ri added.
KT built momentum after sweeping Samsung Lions in the opening series, solidifying mound stability amid domestic frontrunner status. Hanwha faltered late with the eighth-inning pitcher’s extra-base woes despite recent FA boosts and youth promise.
